Newcastle Preparatory School (NPS) aims to offer the highest quality of teaching and learning and support all pupils in the pursuit of academic and personal excellence.

Curriculum Policy

The curriculum offers the children experiences in linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological, human and social, physical and aesthetic, as well as creative education.

Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy

The area of child protection is one of the most sensitive areas of a schools policies. The overriding aim of protecting the child has to be tempered by the need to be even handed and professional in the schools approach to everyone concerned.

Behaviour Policy

NPS wishes to provide an environment that is safe and stimulating for all children in our school.

Anti Bullying Policy

Bullying may be brought to the attention of any member of staff by the victim(s), their friend(s), their parent(s) or other interested parties.

Health & Safety Policy

The aim of NPS is to create an awareness of precautions and measures regarding safety that should be observed in and out of school by all users of the school: children, school staff, parents and where appropriate, the local community.

Fire Safety Policy

It is the overall aim of NPS to minimise the risks to staff and children which may arise from fire.

First Aid Policy

All staff in the school deal with minor incidents requiring first aid.

Admissions Policy

Newcastle Preparatory School welcomes children from the age of 3 to 11 years. A non-selective school, NPS allocates places as parents register their children to join. Usually over subscribed, a waiting list is also in operation.

Equal Opportunities

NPS aims to provide all pupils with equal opportunities. They should have equal access and opportunities within the Curriculum, both formal and informal, so that when leaving our school they have the widest possible options available to them, educationally, socially and vocationally.

Special Educational Needs (SEND) Policy

All children have a human right to be educated alongside their peers. At NPS we are fully committed to meeting the needs of those children with Special Educational Needs.

Attendance Policy

This policy aims to show our commitment to meeting our obligations with regards to school attendance, including those laid out in the Department for Education’s (DfE’s) statutory guidance on working together to improve school attendance.

Learning English as an Additional Language (EAL) Policy

This policy applies to all children at NPS including the EYFS. 

Teaching and Support of More Able Pupils

At NPS we believe in providing teaching that makes learning challenging and enjoyable, with all children achieving their full potential. We help children to develop their skills and abilities intellectually, physically, artistically and creatively.

Education & Welfare Provision for Pupils with a SEND Statement or Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP)

This Policy applies to the whole school, including the EYFS, and should be read in conjunction with the School’s Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Policy and the SEND Accessibility Plan.
