As part of their history topic, Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age, Year 6 took part in a Stone Age Survival day in school run by Wilderness Outdoor Education. On the school field, they learned how to start fires using ancient methods, cook bread over the fire (super tasty) and build Nomadic shelters. The children also discovered just how long the pre-history period lasted in comparison to widely-studied times in history. It was wonderful to bring this learning to life and realise that the skills needed for the survival of man are indeed still relevant today. Thankfully everyone survived the day, even with the cold and rain!
