The Egypt Topic has gripped Year 4 who have learned lots and produced some fabulous work. They have undertaken research, explored maps and created pyramids as they have learned more about this fascinating ancient empire.

The topic culminated in a visit to see the mummies at the Great North Museum. Whilst there, the children were privileged to look at CT scans and X rays of the mummies that encouraged them to think about evidence in the context of historical enquiry. Using first hand evidence such as this prompted the children to make insightful comments and observations.

The children also enjoyed seeing Dippy, the diplodocus on tour from the Natural History Museum.

One child remarked that the mummy looked like their Mum! We know that's not true!
