The sun has shone this week for our Year 1 and 4 Buddy trips where children enjoyed a range of activities with their older or younger friends.

The Buddy system forms an integral part of our school’s pastoral system, allowing children of different ages to learn, play and work together. They develop skills of responsibility, team work, organisation and friendship.

On this week’s trips, the children enjoyed den building and roasting marshmallows on fires at Rising Sun Country Park, before going for some time on the beach.

“I enjoyed working as a team to build the den,” explained one Year 4 boy. It had indeed been outstanding work!

“I loved seeing the skills that my young Buddy had,” a different child commented.

At the beach, the children enjoyed a paddle and built sand castles together. Some played football, others created beach art. All had a great time!

Children will keep their buddies as they move through school. We are looking forward to next year’s Buddy activities already.
